A deal with Syco Records followed, as did a cover version of Kelly Clarkson's winner's song "A Moment Like This" which topped the UK charts for four weeks. Under mentor Simon Cowell, Lewis and her octave-spanning voice sailed to victory, polling 60% of the votes in the final against Ray Quinn.
